Nice Knuckles

Extract Life Reviews the scientific research, then looks for more natural answers that Modern Medicine overlooks today. Knuckles, knots, and growing knuckles.
Why do some knuckles grow bigger?
The real driver for this question was personal, because it was my hands that had been growing knots on the sides of my knuckles on several fingers. I asked orthopedic doctors I knew, what can be done about them and none of their answers sounded good enough: pain creams and steroids, if they get real bad - surgery. I asked “do those actually Fix them?” An apologetic response of “no, not really” did not sit well. Sound familiar to you?

As with all scientific discovery, to find a solution, one must start by identifying the problem.
From my years as an oncology sales rep and trainer I developed the ability to research complex scientific studies and analyze in-depth clinical trials. As my knuckles kept growing, I researched and investigated the physiological basis of why some people's knuckles grow bigger. Through months of research, through all the complicated explanations on How it happens, I discovered the simple “cause and effect” root of the “Why” they grow.
-
“The Cause” - too many inflammatory signals for too long…
Over the years scientists have determined there are numerous cascading paths of “action & reaction” problems within the immune system. Interestingly, most of the paths wind down to a simple explanation; too much “inflammatory signaling” (cytokines1 ) over time in the joint space. Our immune system gets out of balance, and a bad self-repeating cycle of cytokine production between certain key immune layers gets established. This constant overproduction causes an attack on our own cells. They call it an AutoImmune Condition.
-
“The Effect”- Now for the Why they get Bigger part:
As each cell in the joint gets older, they cycle out and need to be replaced. When new cells are developing in an oversupply wash of cytokines, these cells get extra fibers (FLS2) incorporated into each one. If this happens for most of the cells in the joint, the cumulative effects of all these slightly bigger cells cannot fit into the same space and the joint grows bigger. This may be oversimplified for some, but it is very much the crux behind the growth.
Creating a Solution to the Problem…
This is where Modern Science gets in its own way, and older more natural holistic answers may be a much more helpful option. Today's emphasis on single molecule treatments leave out so much of nature's full potential. Natural compounds and full spectrum extracts keep the abundance of homeopathic type ingredients.

Each individual compound is selected to increase the potential of the whole formula. But all formulations need to be crafted carefully,... not too much from one or with the exact same mechanism of action. This discipline's intent is to keep possible side effects low, while coordinating and focusing the ingredients to a specific cross-section of the product's intended purpose; in this case- reducing the oversupply of signaling while supporting overall joint health. Basically, to design a combination that breaks one of the links in the bad chain and stop the overproducing cycle of cytokines. Cells can hopefully go back to dividing and growing like they use to… without the negative influences of all the excess cytokines. With much trial and error, I found a better option, a nature based blend of multiple options…and decided to call it, Nice Knuckles.
